Em Portugal, todas as entidades empregadoras são obrigadas a garantir aos funcionários o seguro de acidentes de trabalho. Este seguro serve para garantir os cuidados médico-hospitalares e indemnizações necessários à compensação dos danos sofridos pelos trabalhadores, em caso de acidente ocorrido durante o horário de trabalho ou no percurso de e para o local de trabalho. O seguro de Acidentes de trabalho empresas pode ser contratado de duas formas:
Contrato com Prémio Fixo, indicando um número exato de funcionários, nomes e o valor da retribuição segura respeitante a cada um desses funcionários. A atualização regular do valor da retribuição segura, far-se-á por uma de duas formas possíveis: por iniciativa da empresa ou de forma automática.
Contrato com Prémio Variável, neste caso o contrato cobre um número variável de funcionários, com retribuições seguras também variáveis. Nesta situação, as actualizações serão efetuadas regularmente de acordo com o número de pessoas seguras e respetivas retribuições de acordo com as Folhas de Férias que forem entregues à companhia de seguros.
